Watched Brave about a month ago. Of course, I watched the Chinese translation. So I didn't understand 20% of it.
The artwork was good--Merida can really rock the fiery dragon's breath curls. It was relatively realistic, although of course not so realistic that the bears would scare the little kids ;)
I liked the plot, although what the blue fairies/pixies/Facebook addicts symbolized eluded me. I suspect it was hope--although it could've been safety. Or change. Or Facebook addicts.
The movie was a bit lacking in the humor department.
No, I will not elaborate.
I did like the story plotline. As a teenager, I have gotten to the stage in life where I argue with my mother constantly, and would like to rip up every single memory of she and I together at some point, like Merida. However, unlike Merida, I do not consult a witch and transform her into a bear.
I enjoyed the romance, or lack of it. Instead of being a Disney Princess and marrying her "true love", Merida refuses to marry her idiot suitors (but hey, that one blonde guy looked kind of like Peeta Mellark from the Hunger Games. Anyone with me on this one?).
On a side note, I would much rather be chased by three curly-haired boys, Merida's brothers, than three demonic-looking teddy bears, Merida's brothers.
The end of my crappy review.
