Just finished Artemis Fowl 8

I just read Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian, and it was so. Freaking. Disappointing!
The ending wasn't conclusive at all. I'm not going to give away any spoilers, but this was probably my least favorite book in the series. The basic plot was a bit overdone (I mean, Opal Koboi? Yawn), and the Beserkers, a group of spirit fairy warriors that are under Opal's command, just came out of nowhere.  There were also several mentions of the Hey-Hey Monks, which was completely spontaneous. They certainly did not play any sort of purpose in the story. And Minerva. Minerva Paradizo, from The Lost Colony? She never appeared again. Which was so irritating, because I liked her.
However, the emotions at the end completely touched me. "I was a broken boy until you fixed me," Artemis whispers to Holly. I nearly cried at that point.
I cannot believe this is the end of Artemis Fowl, though. I never understood the tears shed over the last Harry Potter book back in 2007, since I didn't read the series until 2010 and never fell in love with the characters. But Artemis Fowl...I adored Artemis, even though he was so aggravating at times. Holly was a close friend. No. 1 was hilarious. Foaly and I got into arguments over tech. When Artemis made a certain decision close to the end of this book, it smashed my heart.
